When a brand becomes nearly synonymous with a CPG product segment, it's likely that its packaging is instantly recognizable. This is the case with Oreo and its dominance of the chocolate sandwich cookie category. However, finding the right moments to ride the wave of pop culture trends with packaging overhauls can lead to deeper connections with consumers. For example, in conjunction with last year's airing of the final season of TV phenomenon "Game of Thrones," Oreo ditched its iconic blue brand color and bubble-letter logo for a limited-edition GoT themed package. While the redesign is sure to attract fans of the show, the printing and embellishments are also worthy of attention.
