Since they hit the market, single-serve coffee pods have made at-home coffee brewing a quick, easy, and convenient process for consumers. But because they are typically thrown away after just one use, these pods have taken some heat regarding their negative environmental impact. In today's episode of POW! we take a look at how TC Transcontinental Packaging, a Montreal-based packaging producer, connected with Maxwell House Canada to make these pods — and the flexible pouch they come in — compostable. As a result of this sustainability innovation, TC Transcontinental earned a Gold Award in the Flexible Packaging Association's Achievement Awards. If there's a package you would like to see featured on POW!, contact Cory Francer at cfrancer@napco.com.
