2013 TLMI Label Awards: This Year's Winners Are...

TLMI again shows how special it is—this year in a big way. At the annual TLMI Label Awards contest, Peace & Harmony ruled as Best of Show, thanks to superior workmanship by the folks at McDowell Label & Screen Printing.

Addressing Finishing Bottlenecks in Package Printing

The production of folding cartons in smaller quantities depends on user-friendly equipment capable of high processing quality, consistently short makeready times, and reliably high production speeds. Getting a job into production quickly and efficiently means removing as many obstacles to its timely completion as possible. Automated solutions have enabled folding carton converters to achieve significant performance improvements with a greater degree of confidence in the products they make.

And the TLMI Converter of the Year is...

What makes the annual TLMI Converter of the Year award so special? There's a seemingly endless reservoir of people who could merit this recognition. Jeff Dunphy, president/CEO of Design Label Manufacturing—steps in easily to this long line of top industry leaders. While Dunphy virtually grew up in his father's print shop, he also had some early positive exposure to TLMI. Design Label has been a member of TLMI for about as long as the Dunphy's have owned the company.

High Energy Industry –Polischuk

September was a busy month for trade shows and conferences. The TLMI Technical Conference kicked it off, followed in quick succession by PRINT 13/CPP Expo, Pack Expo, and Labelexpo Europe. The numbers from the shows are just coming in and show significant attendance increases across the board and some record-breaking performances.

Linerless Labels: An Evolving Technology

The linerless market is emerging and is increasingly being used. Label printers have been printing and diecutting the same way for the last 50 years and it is difficult for them to change something they have been doing for so long. But linerless technology is an opportunity. Label printers who have adopted the technology see the real potential in offering their existing customers or new potential customers a standard solution, as well an innovative linerless solution. It is a great door opener.

PRINT 13 and CPP EXPO: Wrapping It All Up

PRINT 13 and CPP EXPO had a successful five-day run in McCormick Place. "Two common themes seemed to be repeated by attendees and exhibitors alike at the show this year," reported Ralph Nappi, president of the Graphic Arts Show Company. "First, a sense of optimism existed that has not been evidenced in our industry for a few years; the second was the surprising number of deals that were inked at the show."
