Consumer Packaging Industry Good for U.S. Economy

CHICAGO, Ill.—The tenth annual Grocery Manufacturers Association/Food Products Association (GMA/FPA) “Financial Performance Report,” conducted by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) for GMA, demonstrates that the consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry is making a significant contribution to the U.S. economy of an estimated $2.1 trillion of revenues and more than $1 trillion worth of value added to the overall economy. CPP EXPO, A Success

PARAMUS, N.J.—At the recent CPP EXPO (co-located with PACK EXPO International and PROCESS EXPO), the concept of “bringing the supply chain together” was physically demonstrated within the McCormick Place Complex in Chicago, Ill., Oct. 29-Nov. 2, 2006. According to CPP EXPO show managment, the combined attendance of the three events over the course of five days totaled 45,676, not including exhibitor attendance of 25,666 or a combined total of 71,407. Of the attendee total, 22 percent indicated converting/package printing and related services as their primary business. About 3,490 visitors indicated interest in package printing equipment/supplies; 3,106 were looking for innovations in coating/laminating, while 2,573


Global Packaging Machinery Demand to Exceed $33 Billion in 2010

Global demand for packaging machinery is projected to expand 4.9 percent per year through 2010 to over $33 billion. Developing parts of the world will provide suppliers with some of the best sales opportunities going forward. Industrialization-related fixed investment activity, rising per capita incomes and growth in packaged goods production will all contribute to increases in equipment demand in these areas, most notably in Asia and Eastern Europe.
