A new "2012 Sustainability Report," has been released from Sun Chemical that highlight's the company's leadership in eco-efficiency through established data-driven metrics. The report shows data collected every year since 2005 from approximately 170 Sun Chemical sites in over 25 countries.
Two converters, Albéa and Thoro Packaging, have saved a significant amount of money through the Sun Chemical Dispenser Program, a system that provides in-house ink dispensing and gives printers the ability to mix the exact amount of ink that they need when they need it. Package printers that participate in the program must agree to purchase a minimum annual amount of Sun Chemical bases and inks and in return receive a GFI Mx12 dispenser that provides spot color accuracy to within 0.001/lb.
Sun Chemical has joined with ScentSational Technologies to introduce SunScent™ coatings, a commercially printable coating that allows any printer to incorporate scent directly onto the packaging substrate which stays inactive until consumers handle the package, trigger a release, and experience a product’s aroma.
At Labelexpo Americas 2012, a steady parade of show attendees were treated to a wide array of new products and technology demonstrations. A major highlight of the show, the Label Industry Global Awards 2012, took place on Tuesday, Sept. 11 at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago. Steve Lee, vice president of technology at RotoMetrics, was honored with the prestigious R Stanton Avery Lifetime Achievement Award.
