Sonoco

Ecover's new look hit store shelves across the U.S. in August in Sonoco's extrusion blow-molded bottles made from Plantplastic, Ecover's proprietary blend of bio-sourced high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and post-consumer recycled (PCR) resin. The bio-resin, which is produced using plant-based feedstock and recycled resin collected from municipal curbside programs across the U.S., uses up to 90% less energy and emits 75% less greenhouse gases than petroleum-based virgin resin, and is recyclable in most curbside recycling programs.

Amcor Rigid Plastics is the latest packaging player to sign onto The Recycling Partnership.
The collaborative group—composed of brands like Coca-Cola, packaging producers such as Ball, and other large firms—is on a mission to increase residential recycling in the US.
The Recycling Partnership is getting the ball rolling by connecting with partner cities for the first round of the project. The group will work with those municipalities to provide technical and financial assistance to build up recycling access for households, gaining support from local and state officials, coordinate with regional recycling forces, and developing education and outreach efforts.
The firm said weak volume, consumer demand, damage from a fire and an ‘extremely negative productivity situation’ at a flexibles plant impact its Q2 financial results.
However, solid volume growth in flexibles was achieved and rigid plastic was on target.
Along with the changing of our calendars, January brings top-level changes at three industry leaders. Mark Andy has named a new president and CEO, Comexi Group will be led by a new president, and three new appointments have been made at Sonoco.
