The Tag and Label Manufacturers Institute has announced that RotoMetrics has achieved L.I.F.E. certification. RotoMetrics is the 64th facility to be L.I.F.E. certified and the first die and cylinder supplier among the L.I.F.E. ranks.

Just off Route 2 along the northern edge of Massachusetts are the past, present, and future of folding carton production. At Boutwell Owens, a folding carton printer and converter in the old New England mill town of Fitchburg, two massive Mitsubishi offset presses and some flatbed steel-rule diecutting machines of assorted vintages do much of the heavy lifting, while an HP Indigo 30000 and a new Highcon Euclid II digital cutting system take on a growing stream of short-run, fast-turn, prototyping and customized work.

Sentinel Capital Partners, a private equity firm that invests in promising companies, has announced its acquisition of RotoMetrics, a global provider of precision rotary tooling and accessories. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. “We are extremely excited to partner with RotoMetrics, a company with a 57-year history of providing great products and services to a longstanding and loyal customer base,” said Jim Coady, a partner at Sentinel. “Under its current management team, RotoMetrics has undergone a fundamental transformation to a global leader with a strong financial profile, and is superbly positioned for future growth.”

RotoMetrics, a supplier and manufacturer of rotary converting tooling, has announced its newly established relationship as a preferred supplier with Flexo Label Advantage Group (FLAG). FLAG was founded in January 2010 as a buying group for independent label printers and converters and has provided a streamlined purchasing approach and significant purchasing power to its members.

The new through-hardened, machine-finished RD300 solid die is a superior solution for cutting disposable medical substrates, dust-sensitive labels and tags, in-mold labels, synthetic gasket materials, Velcro, Tyvek and electronic components. The RD300’s strength and durability comes from its superior high chromium D2 steel grade body along with a specialized heat-treating process that provides a full-depth hardness of 58-60 Rockwell.
