Shipments this year are down from the first half of 2006, according to the PPC, but only slightly at minus 0.85 percent on dollar volume and minus 1.94 percent on tonnage. The outlook for 2007 could be brighter after a slow start to the year. Year-to-date shipments have slowly but steadily improved over a soft fourth quarter 2006. Inventories have risen in June by 18.2 percent compared to May levels, which appears to indicate that the third quarter will follow the traditional pattern of being the
ROCHESTER, N.Y.—Diamond Packaging of Rochester, N.Y. earned four awards in the 64th Annual National Paperboard Packaging Competition, the industry’s premier showcase for all that is new and outstanding in paperboard packaging design and technology. Awards were announced at the Annual Spring Meeting & Strategies Conference, held March 6-8, 2007 in Nashville, Tenn. The competition, which is sponsored by the Paperboard Packaging Council (PPC), provides members with an opportunity to display their most impressive packaging designs and productions, and promote winning packages to customers. Entries are judged in 26 different categories against three criteria: folding carton impact, manufacturing and distribution impact, and retail consumer impact.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla.—Rex Corporation was recently honored at the 2007 National Paperboard Packaging Competition with a Gold and Excellence Award. The Gold Award was presented to only 19 companies and the Excellence Award was presented to 60 out of 150 entries in this year’s competition. The Gold Award was presented in the Toys & Recreational Products category for the JBS Vicious Ultimate fishing line carton.
