At Labelexpo Americas 2012, a steady parade of show attendees were treated to a wide array of new products and technology demonstrations. A major highlight of the show, the Label Industry Global Awards 2012, took place on Tuesday, Sept. 11 at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago. Steve Lee, vice president of technology at RotoMetrics, was honored with the prestigious R Stanton Avery Lifetime Achievement Award.
The new collaboration between OKI Data Americas and Mark Andy will help both companies broaden their reach and market presence within the short-run digital color label printing segment throughout the United States.

Presstek Inc. has entered into a definitive merger agreement under which it would be acquired by MAI Holdings, an entity affiliated with American Industrial Partners (AIP) Capital Fund IV. “AIP is no stranger to our industry. One of its portfolio companies, Mark Andy, is the world's leading designer of narrow and mid-web flexographic equipment and aftermarket products serving the label, packaging and specialty printing markets,” noted Stanley E. Freimuth, Presstek's chairman, president and CEO.
At Labelexpo Americas, Mark Andy will showcase the Mark Andy SRL 4.0, a digital label printer that is specifically positioned for converters seeking an economical, responsive and productive option for short-run, high-quality labels.
In response to the increasing need for improved sustainable print solutions, Flint Group Narrow Web will introduce EkoCure, Flexo and Rotary Screen inks for UV LED curing at Labelexpo Americas. The company will partner with Mark Andy and Phoseon in showing the inks in a live press run on the Mark Andy stand.
Mark Andy has made several expansions and promotions to its service organization in Europe. John Hudson, serving as technical service director, will manage the European service technician team; Alexander Schmidt has been promoted to print services supervisor, Europe; and Florian Stroe and Phil Baldwin have joined the print services team.
HarperScientific division has introduced its first rack-to-store plate cylinders for Mark Andy’s P-Series presses. Because of the unique plate cylinders of the P-Series presses, HarperScientific designed its Cylinder Wrack™ to provide a storage solution that is easy to load and unload, allowing the printer the flexibility to group the like repeats and jobs.
With more than 400 exhibitors at this year's Labelexpo Americas in Chicago, including Avery Dennison, UPM Raflatac, Gallus, EskoArtwork, Nilpeter, Flint Group, Mark Andy, and Sun Chemical, show visitors will be perfectly positioned to make informed choices from the numerous live demonstrations of the latest machinery and materials. Three new comprehensive workshop sessions for label and package printers will also be offered.
Mark Andy press users now have the opportunity to attend week-long classes at Mark Andy University in St. Louis, where certified trainers will provide courses covering press troubleshooting, PLC monitoring, press calibration and ongoing maintenance. Certified trainers are available to provide training on-site at a converter's facility.
