After investigating the 40- to 41-inch printing press market for 18 months, Winston-Salem, NC-based Winston Packaging has purchased a new six-color, 41˝KBA Rapida 106 with unique automation such as LogoTronic, DensiTronic, and SIS. The press is due to be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2012.
KBA North America, as well as its parent company, Koenig & Bauer AG (KBA), posted strong performances at drupa 2012 in Düsseldorf, Germany last May. Contracts worth well over one hundred million euros were signed at the fair—most of them for sheetfed offset presses.
Everett Graphics is investing in a new 41-inch, KBA Rapida 106 sheetfed press at its Oakland, CA facility. The new Rapida’s ability to print on a variety of substrates will enable Everett to switch easily to handle a wide mix of jobs.
German press manufacturer Koenig & Bauer AG (KBA) has published its financial statements for 2011. Notwithstanding the challenges arising from ongoing structural changes in the print media market, the KBA group met all its capital requirements from a healthy operating cash flow of €83.9m, scaled back bank debts still further and boosted liquid assets.
KBA North America announces that it has set a new record with the installation of 10 presses at customers in the Southeast during 2011. The press models range from the award-winning Genius 52 UV to the large-format Rapida 142 press.
The successful global launch of KBA’s new Rapida 105 was one of the high spots at the All in Print trade fair from 14 to 18 November in Shanghai, which drew 629 exhibitors and over 100,000 visitors.

KBA North America announces that Specialty Finishing, an Omaha, Nebraska full service folding carton manufacturer, has purchased two large format presses from KBA North America at Chicago’s Graph Expo 2011 in early September. The new presses are a six-color and a seven-color equipped with KBA’s unique automation and inline quality control features and coaters. These are the first KBA presses purchased by Specialty Finishing. “We chose to purchase two large-format presses from KBA because they could offer the highest level of automation and productivity as well as a custom-configured press for our particular needs,” says Mark Wright, Specialty Finishing
