SOUTH BEACH, Fla.—The International Cooperation for the Integration of the Processes in Prepress, Press and Postpress (CIP4) organization today presented Martin Bailey of Global Graphics with the CIP4 Fellowship Award. As a CIP4 fellow, Bailey has been granted a life-long individual CIP4 membership. The CIP4 Fellowship Award recognizes individuals whose contributions to the development of the Job Definition Format (JDF) Specification are both substantial and of significance to the integrity and function of JDF, as well as individuals who may have contributed to the industry’s adoption of JDF by educating manufacturers of JDF systems and JDF users and/or by actively disseminating information about JDF.

GHENT, Belgium—The Ghent PDF Workgroup (GWG), an international association that helps produce and exchange digital documents for the publishing workflow, announced the availability of new GWG Packaging Specifications, offering best practices for PDF file exchange in packaging applications. The specifications developed by the GWG’s packaging experts were tested in North America by Kraft Foods Inc., and in Europe by France’s Square. DARMSTADT, Germany—The International Cooperation for the Integration of the Processes in Prepress, Press and Postpress (CIP4) organization announced the results of its 2006 elections for advisory board members and officers on its board of directors. CIP4’s advisory board is the organization’s governing body. The advisory board consists of representatives of each of three classes of members; partner, full and associate. There are 14 partner members of CIP4 and roughly 150 full and associate members of CIP4. Partner members automatically have one seat on the advisory board, but full and associate members are represented by advisory board directors that are elected with a simple majority
SEWICKLEY, Pa. - The International Cooperation for the Integration of the Processes in Prepress, Press and Postpress (CIP4) organization and Printing Industries of America/Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (PIA/GATF) announced that Global Graphic’s Harlequin RIP is the first commercially available product to achieve JDF Certification, meeting CIP4’s established interoperability conformance specifications. PIA/GATF provides testing services for the JDF Product Certification Program based on requirements established in CIP4’s Interoperability Conformance Specifications (ICS). The version of the Harlequin RIP that was successfully certified was Genesis Release 7.1R0 running on Microsoft Windows XP.
