ROCKFORD Ill.—Gallus Stanz- und Druckmaschinen Gmbh, Weiden Germany, placed orders at drupa 2008 for non-stop splicing and automatic rewinding systems from Martin Automatic, Inc., Rockford, Ill., for two new Gallus press lines to be installed in North America and Asia. One project will feature a Martin model MBX automatic butt splicer for paper and paperboard, used in conjunction with a Martin model LRD automatic transfer rewind. The other project will incorporate a Martin model MCB automatic butt splicer. Overall, drupa exhibitors announced deals concluded worth more than Euro 10 billion. Industry insiders suspect the actual investment sum to be considerably higher. Around 391,000 visitors from 138 countries and 3,000 journalists from 84 countries traveled to Düsseldorf, Germany to gather information on innovations, developments and new fields of business. DUSSELDORF, Germany—Martin Automatic has entered into a licensing agreement with press manufacturer Labelmen Machinery Co., Ltd. of Taiwan.
