BRYAN, Ohio—U.S. Veteran and printing industry representative Howard B. Vreeland, Sr., 87, of Bryan, died Friday, June 13, 2008. Born on October 4, 1920, in Caldwell, New Jersey, Vreeland was the son of John Henry and Lulu Belle (Ward) Vreeland. He graduated from Kingspoint Merchant Marine Academy in Long Island, New York where he received a degree in Hydraulic Engineering. A Navy veteran of WWII, he married Alice T. Kennedy on December 14, 1945 three hours after his college graduation, in Long Island, New York. She preceded him in death on July 6, 2002. Howard was the Owner and Chairman Emeritus of the Board

CHARLOTTE, N.C.—The fourth annual Phoenix Challenge Fund Raising Luncheon, organized to support the 2007 Annual International Phoenix Challenge Flexo Skills Competition and the brand new PC College competition, took place at the Doubletree Hotel in Charlotte, N.C., and boasted a record attendance of more than 100 participants. Five speakers addressed the genial group of flexo industry professionals. “We are very grateful for a terrifically successful luncheon,” said Bettylyn Krafft, Phoenix Challenge Foundation (PCF) chairman, of the event. “We appreciate the generous benefactors who sponsored full tables at this luncheon, as well as the loyal backers who support us in smaller numbers.” Krafft opened the
Plate mounting demands accuracy, and today’s plate mounting equipment and tapes help operators achieve just that. With available state-of-the-art equipment, what was once a painstaking manual process can now be done with computers and machines. According to Paul Zeinert, product manager, Anderson & Vreeland, the biggest change in plate mounting procedures has been “doing things automatically and using computers to make it repeatable.” These advances lend themselves to the pinnacle of plate mounting—a precisely, consistently, and easily mounted plate. In view of today’s plate mounting tapes, operators are now better equipped than ever to mount, demount, and reposition plates for accurate positioning. Some tapes
