In the high-end spirits segment, it has become a common practice for brands to place their bottles in a decorated carton, standing out on shelf against products solely utilizing a label. These folding cartons for Ketel One's Botanical line are a great example, combining stunning offset printing and multiple embellishments.

Deer Park, N.Y.-based All Color installed a Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 106-6+L two years ago to increase volume and lower costs. Since its installation, the all-Heidelberg shop has been able to cut makeready times in half and move from job-to-job at the fastest speeds possible due to “Push to Stop” technology.

To meet the needs of the craft beer industry, NEPA Carton & Carrier installed a six-color, 57˝ Koenig & Bauer Rapida 145 press three years ago. Now, due to continued growth and expansion in the market, NEPA is adding a second Rapida 145 sheetfed press with increased efficiencies and added capabilities.

Carlson Print Group celebrated the installation of its new six-color 41˝Koenig & Bauer Rapida 105 PRO with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on October 29. In addition to highlighting the advanced features of the press, the event detailed the opportunities the new press provides, including expansion in the high-end packaging segment.

Diamond Packaging received three awards in the 76th annual Paperboard Packaging Competition, which were presented last month at the Paperboard Packaging Council's annual meeting. Diamond received one award in the Cosmetics category and two awards in the Pharmaceutical/Healthcare category.

Komori reached an agreement with Shinwa Factory to conduct field testing of the Impremia NS40. Shinwa Factory provides across-the-board services from designing of creative packaging, displays and sales promotion material, to high volumes of printing, processing, and delivery.

Thirty-four Komori customers — representing 19 of Komori's key U.S. accounts — visited the Komori America facility on Oct. 2 in Rolling Meadows, Ill., for an open house. The event featured presentations and demonstrations highlighting Komori's latest offset and digital equipment, as well as the company's future direction.
