Graphic Packaging International, Inc., a subsidiary of Graphic Packaging Holding Company, announced that it has entered into an agreement to divest certain assets and liabilities of the Handschy inks coatings and varnishes business to Sun Chemical. The parties plan to close on the transaction at an undetermined date.

CINCINNATI, Ohio—Collins Ink Corporation has acquired the UV Curable Inkjet and Optical disc coating business of Hexion Specialty Chemicals, Inc. Hexion's UV curables group produces UV inkjet and optical disc coatings targeted at the graphic arts and industrial markets. The acquisition includes intellectual property, laboratory and manufacturing assets, as well as key personnel associated with Hexion's UV curables inkjet business.
Paragon Inks, a UK-based UV ink and coatings manufacturer for the web printing market, has named MET Print Solutions as its North American distributor.

COVINGTON, Ky.—Ashland Inc. recently signed a definitive agreement with Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. for an asset purchase of Air Products’ pressure-sensitive adhesive business and its atmospheric emulsions business. The $92 million transaction includes manufacturing facilities in Elkton, Md. and Piedmont, S.C. The purchased operations, which will merge into Ashland’s Specialty Polymers & Adhesives business group, had sales of $126 million in 2007, principally in North America. Approximately 80 employees will transfer to Ashland upon closing of the acquisition, expected by June 30, dependent upon a number of standard closing conditions, including regulatory review. GENT, Belgium—At the closing of drupa 2008, EskoArtwork signed Letter of Intent regarding the acquisition of Mikkelsen Graphic Engineering, Inc. (MGE), an industry leader of vision-controlled finishing solutions for cutting tables in the sign-making, screen-printing and digital printing marketplaces. The transaction, for which no financial details will be disclosed, is expected to close by end of July 2008. MGE is the developer of the patented i-cut® vision system. Its i-script™ workflow has become a de-facto international standard through its integration into the RIPs of all major digital flatbed presses.
