Bemis Raises 2Q09 Guidance; Increases Total Year Guidance

NEENAH, Wis.—Bemis Company, Inc. announced that management expects its diluted earnings per share for the second quarter to be approximately $0.47. These results include a $.03 per share charge related to the impact of expensing acquisition related costs in accordance with FAS 141(R). Management’s original guidance for the second quarter was $0.35 to $0.43 per share, and this guidance did not include any FAS 141(R) charges.

Growth in U.S. Packaging Equipment Exports

Arlington, Va.—PMMI reported United States exports of packaging machinery from January to December 2008 were up 9.5 percent from the same period in 2007, totaling $950 million. The data, based on the U.S. Census estimates, also showed U.S. imports reached $2 billion, a slight increase of 0.27 percent.

NEW YORK—Alcoa announced it has completed the sale of its packaging and consumer businesses to New Zealand’s Rank Group Limited. Alcoa’s packaging and consumer businesses generated approximately 11 percent of Alcoa 2007 revenues and approximately 4.6 percent of 2007 after-tax operating income. Businesses included in the sale are: • Closure Systems International; • Consumer Products, including Reynolds Wrap branded products; • Flexible Packaging; and • Reynolds Food Packaging. In total, these packaging businesses have approximately 9,300 employees in 22 countries around the world. Alcoa will continue to operate its flat-rolled can sheet products serving the packaging market. Alcoa received approximately $2.5 billion in cash
