WILMINGTON, Del.—The new Weil Baby infant care line from Key Baby, LLC is packaged with tray inserts made of renewably sourced, compostable DuPont Biomax TPS thermoplastic starch. The line’s packaging is entirely recyclable or biodegradable.
Biomax renewably sourced TPS provides high-performance packaging from high-amylose starch for thermoformed trays and articles for food or non-food packaging. The Biomax TPS used in this application consists of sheet material that contains 85-90 percent renewably sourced content. The sheet is then thermoformed by Plastic Package Inc. into trays that hold the Weil Baby products in place inside a box. Biomax TPS is certified for home and industrial composting.
“DuPont is committed to offering a portfolio of sustainable solutions for packaging, including renewably sourced offerings, like Biomax TPS, that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and energy usage, and that help to reduce the amount of packaging needed,” said Shanna Moore, global director of sustainable packaging. “These high-performance materials perform equal or better than the materials they replace so that customers do not have to compromise on performance in order to get environmental benefits.”
