In the lead up to drupa 2016, it was clear that the latest in digital printing would be a major focal point of the show. And since digital has become so prevalent in commercial printing, it was expected that much of the new technology on display would be centered on packaging. The surprise however, was just how many new digital solutions were released specifically for the corrugated market.
On Wednesday, August 31, packagePRINTING hosted "Digital Corrugated: The Birth of a New Disruptive Technology," sponsored by Barberán and Gemini North America. The webinar featured two speakers from Bennett, a corrugated packaging and displays converter, located in Lee’s Summit, Mo., near Kansas City.
Bennett is the first U.S. converter to add single-pass, direct-to-board digital printing, installing a Barberán Jetmaster 1680 in August of 2015. Single-pass digital printing for corrugated was one of the major talking points at drupa, with several suppliers revealing new presses. As a pioneer in this technology, Bennett discussed what it has been able to gain from the new press.
In the following video, Craig Bradley, Bennett’s VP of manufacturing, and Robert Sweet, Bennett’s sales manager, discuss the decision points that led them to want to adopt this technology.
