UPM Raflatac and Hansaprint Launch TagAge
TAMPERE, Finland—UPM Raflatac and Hansaprint launched a Near Field Communication (NFC) RFID tag portal, TagAge, which allows customers to create and buy NFC-integrated print products online.
TagAge products include labels, patches, stickers, and posters. All products can be customized and personalized, with order volumes ranging from dozens to tens of thousands. TagAge production supports variable data printing to include elements such as consecutive numbers, changing 1D/2D barcodes, text, and images.
After choosing a suitable product type and size on TagAge, the customer can upload the desired layout in PDF or other popular image format. The customer selects the RFID tag type, positions it on the product, and chooses optional tag encoding information such as a URL or SMS. Products can also be saved in a personal archive for later retrieval, editing, and ordering.
UPM Raflatac is in charge of developing and manufacturing the tags used in the TagAge service. Hansaprint is responsible for developing the technical structure of the portal and the end production. NFC is a short-range radio frequency communication technology that enables data exchange between devices a few centimetres or inches apart. Applications enabled by NFC include contactless transactions for payment and transit ticketing, access to online content and simple data transfer.
