Trelleborg Opens New Facility to Support Graphic Arts Industry in Brazil
SÃO PAULO, BRAZIL—October 9, 2012—Trelleborg, a leading developer and manufacturer of printing solutions, will officially open its new state-of-the-art facility today in São Paulo, Brazil. The specialized production of printing solutions in Brazil will allow the company to create a platform for local presence in the region and growth in the graphic arts industry.
The new facility will add to the company's already increased presence in South America after it announced the acquisition of Printec, the printing blankets business of Day Brasil SA, last month.
"Trelleborg has a long-term strategy to invest in markets with encouraging growth potential and with the graphics industry a growing and highly attractive market, increasing our presence in South and Latin America was the next logical step and central to our expansion strategy," says Dario Porta, president of Trelleborg Coated Systems, which is part of the Trelleborg Engineered Systems business area.
"As well as establishing advanced production of printing solutions in a modern facility that is excellently located, this move will allow us to provide customers in the region with specialist, technical, on-the-ground service and support, in turn bringing us closer to the action and our customer base."
The 161,458-square-foot plant, located in Santana de Parnaiba, near São Paulo, will be shared with Trelleborg's Marine Hoses operation, which will focus on specially designed oil hoses for surface and deep-sea application. Thirty percent of employees at the site will be new hires from the local area.
Trelleborg in Brazil
This new facility will add to Trelleborg's already strong presence in Brazil. In September, Trelleborg opened a new facility in Macaé that will manufacture Trelleborg Offshore's complete product portfolio, including a wide range of high-performance polymer-based solutions for offshore topside and subsea oil and gas exploration, such as insulation tape and buoyancy products. To support offshore customers in their quest to reach greater subsea depths, the new facility boasts the largest hydrostatic pressure testing vessel in the world.
Trelleborg Wheel Systems supports agriculture with high-end tires designed specifically for the well-deployed and large agriculture sectors like soybeans, corn and sugar cane, as well as industrial tires for the growing forklift sector. Its main sales offices are located in Lençóis Paulista and São Paulo, which is also home to the Trelleborg Wheel Systems headquarters for Latin America. Trelleborg Sealing Solutions has a manufacturing facility and sales office in São José dos Campos that develops, manufactures and supplies high-performance sealing solutions for aerospace, automotive and industrial applications.
There are also major automotive facilities in the strategic locations of Guarulhos and Taubaté that are part of TrelleborgVibracoustic, the joint venture in antivibration solutions for light and heavy vehicles.
