Coupled with the consolidation of commercial banks and the subsequent tightening of credit markets, this has created a situation in which sourcing capital for growth or an acquisition is much more difficult, particularly for small and mid-market companies. It has become necessary in this emerging environment for these companies to adopt "institutional" practices if they wish to secure capital and grow.
