Schawk Employees and Foundation Donate $200,000 to Red Cross
DES PLAINES—Schawk, Inc. announced today that it has donated $200,000 to the American Red Cross Hurricane Katrina disaster relief fund.
Eighty-five thousand dollars came from the personal contributions made by Schawk, Inc. employees. This was matched dollar for dollar by the Clarence W. and Marilyn G. Schawk Family Foundation. An additional $30,000 was donated by the Foundation to bring the total Schawk contribution up to $200,000.
"I am deeply moved by the generous response of our employees to the plight of the millions of people in the Louisiana Gulf Coast region who are faced with the heartbreaking task of rebuilding their lives," said Clarence W. Schawk, chairman of Schawk, Inc.
"It is very gratifying to be able to support the thousands of acts of compassion made by our employees," added Schawk. "Their exceptional generosity illustrates the goodwill of the many good people working for Schawk."
Schawk continues to support certain other international and national charitable organizations and the Clarence W. and Marilyn G. Schawk Family Foundation supports local, regional and national charitable organizations.
The Clarence W. and Marilyn G. Schawk Family Foundation is a private non-operating foundation that bestows gifts, grants or loans to charitable, educational, religious and literary organizations. Organizations that have received donations from The Foundation include the United Way, National Committee to Prevent Child Abuse, National Foundation for Abused and Neglected Children, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Neediest Kids Fund, American Red Cross, Salvation Army, Boy Scouts of America, LEAPS Program at Valparaiso University, Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation, American Family Association, and CLEF, as well as dozens of neighborhood high schools, parks, churches, and inner-city organizations. The Foundation has a history of donating anywhere from $500,000 to $750,000 annually to such needy causes, including matching company-wide donations made by the employees of Schawk, Inc.
