Registration Opens for AICC 2019 Annual Meeting and Independent Package Design Competition
AICC, The Independent Packaging Association, has opened registration for the AICC 2019 Annual Meeting, being held September 16-18, at the Westin Harbour Castle Hotel in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The meeting will feature a three-day series of general sessions, workshops, plant tours, and networking and social events. The meeting will also feature the biennial Independent Package Design Competition.
Gregg Lederman and Rick Mercer are two of this year's featured keynote speakers.
Lederman is a professional speaker, professor at the University of Rochester Simon School of Business, and the President of Employee Engagement for Reward Gateway. Over the past decade, Lederman’s clients have witnessed more than 90% employee engagement, nearly three times the national average, and more than 65% have been noted on “best place to work” lists. Lederman has written three award-winning books and is a New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal bestselling author.
Lederman will help attendees increase employee motivation and engagement to increase the company’s profits. In addition to Lederman’s keynote, he will also present a two-day workshop track.
Rick Mercer chronicles, satirizes, and ultimately celebrates all that is great and irreverent about Canada. A #1 bestselling author, Governor General’s Award-winner for Lifetime Artistic Achievement, and “Canada’s Unofficial Opposition,” Mercer is Canada’s most popular comic; a political satirist who knows exactly what matters to regular Canadians and what makes them laugh. Mercer is the author of four national bestsellers: Rick Mercer Final Report, Streeters, The Rick Mercer Report: The Book, and 2012’s A Nation Worth Ranting About.
Mercer will close the meeting with an informative, ironic, and hilarious presentation on the political climate and the ridiculous realities of politics.
Meeting workshops will educate attendees on a variety of topics including; comparing and finding the best use for digital, flexo, and litho printing, marijuana in the workplace and other top HR issues impacting employers in both the U.S. and Canada, and increasing profits through increased engagement and creating and sustaining a company culture.
AICC will also host a designers’ forum: “Practical Innovation in Package Design” on Monday, September 16. As always, during the Annual Meeting, AICC will offer a special training and networking event for AICC Emerging Leaders.
The Independent Package Design Competition, taking place in conjunction with the Meeting, features 41 corrugated, folding carton, and rigid box categories, providing a wider reach into the entire packaging market and a greater diversity of ideas. There is a category for everyone to compete and receive recognition for creating and manufacturing successful global packaging solutions. Submissions are being accepted through Friday, August 16. More information is available at www.AICCbox.org/PDC.
The host hotel for the meeting is the Westin Harbour Castle nestled in the harbor with seamless downtown access. Attendees are strongly encouraged to make their hotel reservations at the Westin before the group cut-off date of Friday, August 23, 2019, to be guaranteed availability at the group rate. More information about securing hotel reservations can be found at www.AICCbox.org/meeting.
The Westin is located 17 miles from the Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and less than 2 miles from the Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ). Non-Canadian residents will need a valid passport to travel to Toronto.
