FAIRFAX, Va. and PHILADELPHIA - NPES, The Association for Suppliers of Printing, Publishing, and Converting Technologies, Inc. (d/b/a The Association for PRINT Technologies), filed a lawsuit against the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA) and NAPCO Media. The lawsuit alleged trademark infringement and unfair competition. SGIA and NAPCO Media denied liability, but to amicably resolve the dispute, they agreed to change the name of the event PRINTING United to PRINTING United.
An Expo by Any Other Name …
PRINTING United is predicated on the current and powerful trends impacting the printing industry. The adoption of digital printing technologies has democratized the industry and enabled printing segment crossover that had not been possible before because of the specific skills required for each segment.
A new study commissioned by SGIA, "Convergence in the Print Industry: Understanding Growth Opportunities and Competition" (download here), reveals the extent by which the segments have and intend to take advantage of their adjacent market opportunities. A quick preview of some of the compelling results:
- 43% of COMMERCIAL printers are considering adding LABEL printing
- 32% of COMMERCIAL printers are considering adding FOLDING CARTON printing
- 37% of COMMERCIAL printers are considering adding SIGNAGE/GRAPHICS
- 40% of SIGNAGE/GRAPHICS companies are considering adding COMMERCIAL printing
- 44% of GARMENT printers are considering adding COMMERCIAL printing
PRINTING United will be a “one roof” experience where all printing solutions can be evaluated, resulting in a much higher return on investment for exhibitors and attendees alike. Attendees will be able to see all solutions and opportunities available to them, while spending less time out of the office, and exhibitors will realize greater scalability and access across segments. PRINTING United is a strategic response to what the market has been requesting for years. No other organizations are better situated to bring this much-anticipated and long-desired opportunity to the printing community.
