A multitude of editorial features are planned across Alliance media publications and outlets. Included in this month-long highlight is In-plant Impressions’ March/April issue, which includes a feature story on three in-plants run entirely by women, called “Strong Women Standing Out in a Man’s World.” During March, Packaging Impressions is featuring a profile of different women in package printing every Wednesday. The Apparelist will highlight women-owned apparel decorators to showcase how women are making a difference not only as decorators, but as educators.
Women in Print Alliance Makes Strides
With the recent appointment of Lisbeth Lyons Black as director of the Women in Print Alliance, many advancements with this group are taking place, including the launch of a dedicated LinkedIn channel, newly designed website, and Women in Print Alliance newsletter, which women in the industry can sign up for now to receive as it launches in the coming weeks.
Women in Print Alliance will encourage and recognize the contribution of women to the printing industry through a month-long social media campaign on LinkedIn. Follow #WomenMakingPrintHistory to exchange dialogue and engage with this community. Many women-focused events will also be taking place at this year’s PRINTING United Expo being held October 18-20 in Atlanta, with more information to come.
“What’s exciting about the history of women in print is that it’s truly a ‘living history,’” says Lyons Black. “Veteran women in the industry today are making strides because of lessons learned from women who pioneered the way before them, while women new to the industry have the benefit of observing more female leadership examples than ever before as gender diversity at printing companies increases.
“There is also a proud family business heritage in the printing industry, and many women in our community today are following in the footsteps of mothers and even grandmothers who were early success stories in print.”
