Gallus Group Achieves Increased Turnover
Gallus Group achieved turnover of CHF 201 million, improving on the previous year of CHF 178 million. Despite the uncertain economic situation and a clear decline in demand in the second half of 2011, the volume of the label business was slightly above that of the preceding year.
The development of the sales and service presence in developing countries played a decisive role in this regard. The further development of the Gallus ECS 340, which had been introduced in 2009 and to which essential functions were added in 2011, supported the development as well. This machine system is the first in the printing press industry to use technical granite as the carrier material for the printing and processing units. Together with other innovations, this machine enables considerable productivity gains in the production of commodity labels.
Strong increase in the folding cartons business
Thanks to a satisfactory level of business from orders received in 2010 and the first installations of the Gallus ICS 670, there was a significant expansion of business in the folding carton business unit. The Gallus ICS 670 is an inline printing press concept that permits various printing and finishing processes and allows the manufacture of blanks from the cardboard roll in a single pass. This ensures maximum efficiency and economy for the manufacture of highly embellished folding cartons.
Gallus will exhibit the Gallus ICS 670 machine system with further important improvement features and expansion possibilities at drupa 2012, the most important trade fair in this sector.
