Printed Electronics Comes to Silicon Valley
Printed electronics is the new hot topic in Silicon Valley—it enables the printing of circuits, displays, sensors, batteries, and solar cells which have many new attributes not seen before in conventional electronics, attributes such as electronics that are flexible, laminar, stretchable, lightweight, cheaper or which can be made in very large areas.
The newspaper that has a moving display; skin patches which automate delivery of drugs; the bill board poster that is a digital display; the package that senses when you take your medication; plastic solar cells. These are all products available today thanks to printed electronics. The world’s biggest chemical, printing, electronics, and packaging companies are working on the topic, with actual implementations including the display on Esquire magazine this month, or the new e-readers.
The IDTechEx Printed Electronics USA 2008 event is coming Silicon Valley, Dec. 2-5 in San Jose, Calif. Hosted by IDTechEx, this conference will cover a range of topics from industry forecasts to technology breakthroughs and products.
With a host of industry-leading companies attending, including Apple, BASF, NEC, Epson, Nokia, Kodak, and Goldman Sachs, this will be the conference to attend for anyone interested in breaking into this fast-growing industry. In addition, there will be tours to local companies including Fujifilm Dimatix, Kovio, University of California Berkeley, and Artificial Muscle.
Printed electronics is the future of many of our consumer products and this event will serve as a key chance to learn about the technology, as well as meet current market players.
