NILES, IL—January 28, 2015—In the hands of a master in high-end packaging and print solutions like JohnsByrne, this Swiss Army knife of a press will place the company among the vanguard of elite, end-to-end solutions suppliers able to provide comprehensive services from structural design, press to finishing, assembly and fulfillment—all in-house.
JohnsByrne announced the launch of Press384, a 15-unit Speedmaster XL 106 from Heidelberg. Thanks to its one-of-a-kind configuration, this new press gives JohnsByrne's clients more creative freedom, higher productivity and cost effective innovation. The launch date of Press384—Tuesday, Jan. 20—was selected as a tribute to the company's founder, John Gustafson.
Designed from scratch and built to satisfy a rigid set of parameters years in the making, JohnsByrne's Press384 is configured with three coating units, eight print units and four dryers, enabling the company to execute virtually any "coat-print-coat-print-coat-dry" combination at speeds up to 18,000 sheets/hr., even on challenging substrates. Stretching almost 130 feet long and with a format size of 29x41", Press384 is the latest addition to the JohnsByrne's Limitless Pressroom.
Customers now have more creative freedom by combining multiple coatings, inks and varnishes such as soft touch, grit, glitter, gloss, dull and reticulation that can be applied in one pass. This press also has an automated, computer-monitored feeder logistics system that allows for a non-stop supply of sheets for even more efficient makeready times and faster throughput.
"The idea of a 'concept press' took form and shape over several years as we became more deeply involved in packaging for our high potential markets," said Jack Gustafson, COO of JohnsByrne. "We listened to the market and to what our customers wanted. Press384 fits our vision for the future and is the ultimate tool that gives our customers more creative freedom, more flexibility and more options."
"If you are using Press384, it means you are looking for a cost effective solution to great innovation and it means you have found the right press for a new idea," added Gustafson. "Starting on January 20th, JohnsByrne enters a new era of innovation for our clients. All they have to do is 'press go' to see how Press384 can push the limits to limitless."
