Pregis announced its Anderson, South Carolina facility received the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) PLUS distinction, a globally recognized system for the sustainability certification of recycled and bio-based materials.
The ISCC PLUS certification reinforces the Pregis Purpose to ‘Protect, Preserve, Inspyre.’ It is the latest example of the company achieving goals supporting its sustainability commitment to provide high-performing products while enabling a circular economy.
This third-party certification enables Pregis to produce solutions that are classified as circular, bio-circular, and/or bio-based. The ISCC PLUS certification includes the mass balance chain of custody option, providing traceability along the supply chain.
"The completion of the ISCC PLUS certification across the entire Pregis Performance Flexibles facility network clearly showcases our commitment to advancing the circular economy," explains Jonathan Quinn, Director of Market Development and Sustainability for Pregis Performance Flexibles. "It is a testament to our continued efforts to push the boundaries of innovation in blown films and expand our specialty films offerings in the food and medical packaging markets as well as other demanding applications."
In July 2021, this same South Carolina facility received an $80 million investment in state-of-the-art blown film extrusion capabilities and features the latest in energy efficiency in manufacturing and other plant functions.
In August 2022, the Pregis Grand Rapids, Michigan, plant achieved the same ISCC PLUS certification, becoming the first U.S.-based Pregis plant.
The company engineers its Pregis Performance Flexibles Renew Series film solutions with these bio-certified materials, meeting the growing demand for flexible packaging options that align with customers’ sustainability and performance goals.
Pregis applies responsible sourcing and advanced recycling technologies to custom engineer films that set the industry's sustainability standards. With these certifications and more as proof, Pregis will continue to set the bar with innovations in material technologies that contribute to a circular economy through end-to-end supply chain excellence.
