Pregis, a leading global manufacturer of protective packaging solutions, announced an investment of more than €10 million dedicated to advancements in multilayer PE film technology and manufacturing equipment in its Heerlen, the Netherlands location. This investment supports Pregis’ commitment to continuously offer highly advanced sustainable solutions for the packaging industry.
The new extrusion technology will allow Pregis to engineer and produce high yield “thin” PE film with outstanding performance for use with the Pregis AirSpeed inflatable systems for both void fill and Hybrid Cushioning “HC” performance packaging solutions. The films will include the use of post-consumer recycled materials, delivering more efficient and sustainable packaging solutions. In addition, the investment includes technology to recycle internal and external plastic, further reducing waste and driving circularity.
Combined with the opening of its paper converting facility in Born, the Netherlands, in 2021 and the recent opening of the Pregis IQ innovation headquarters in Eindhoven, the Netherlands last month, Pregis continues to invest in providing packaging solutions to meet its customers’ environmental goals, including increased design for circularity and reduced carbon footprint.
By continuously advancing its portfolio of packaging solutions, Pregis can offer the right functional and sustainable solutions for its customers, addressing their needs with its comprehensive line of AirSpeed inflatable systems, Easypack paper systems, and Sharp in-line bagging solutions.
“With the latest equipment and technologies, we continue to engineer better solutions that meet the packaging and sustainability needs of our customers while also supporting our mission to reduce environmental impact and support the Pregis 2K30 environmental goals as well as our commitment as a signatory to The Climate Pledge,” said Conré Oostrom, president, Pregis Europe. “These recent investments are a testament to our commitment and our constant focus to Protect, Preserve and Inspire through the development of greener products and processes.”
Pregis is committed to providing protective packaging options that are suited to specific applications, giving companies around the world the confidence that they’re fulfilling their environmental responsibility and commitments.
