The Paperboard Packaging Council (PPC) will hold its inaugural Women’s Leadership Conference on Friday, Oct. 9 in Indianapolis. The half-day event—the first of its kind in the folding carton industry—will take place directly following PPC’s annual Fall Meeting, also in Indianapolis.
Facilitated by Dr. Ann Bowers-Evangelista, business consultant, executive coach, and president of Llumos, LLC, PPC’s Women’s Leadership Conference will provide female leaders in the folding carton industry the opportunity to share common experiences and best practices, and participate in structured learning sessions in order to develop strategies for continued success in the industry.
“Although women leaders in the manufacturing sector have made great strides over the past few decades, obstacles still remain,” said Kim Guarnaccia, PPC’s director of marketing and staff liaison to the conference steering committee. “The Women’s Leadership Conference will provide a unique opportunity for female PPC members to have an open dialogue about these important issues.”
The program will highlight the female leadership experience and identify obstacles and best practices for success. It will also include:
- A facilitated dialogue about gender dynamics in the paperboard packaging industry, including input from some of the most seasoned female leaders in the business
- A strategy discussion focused on bringing in—and keeping—more women in the industry
- A host of relationship-deepening opportunities over lunch, dinner, and a networking reception
“When a few long-time members approached us about developing this program, we were on board immediately,” said Ben Markens, PPC president. “I hope the Women’s Leadership Conference serves as a resource to help attendees move forward in their careers and lives.”
