PMMI Launches Certified Trainer Program
ARLINGTON, Va.—PMMI announces that its Certified Trainer program will grant certification status to employees at consumer and industrial goods companies who successfully complete the two-day program.
The PMMI Certified Trainer Program is a train-the-trainer program that teaches professionals in the packaging industry the skills needed to provide quality instruction to improve equipment reliability, employee safety and line efficiency. PMMI Certified Trainers create valuable documentation and content and a purpose-driven training curriculum that emphasizes practical learning and problem-solving.
“PMMI’s Certified Training program will develop a strong, knowledge-based workforce that will ultimately ensure that the capital equipment a company purchases runs as efficiently as possible,” said Charles D. Yuska at PMMI. “We want the entire packaging community working together to increase productivity and this program supports those efforts in a direct manner.”
The program was developed based on input from the consumer and industrial goods companies that were looking for improved training, documentation, and a cohesive set of standards. It is designed ultimately to reduce the total cost of ownership of machinery by creating a knowledge-based workforce.
The PMMI Certified Training program is built around a core set of training best practices, including:
Performance: Goals for training must be clearly outlined. Performance benchmarks and methods must be in place for individual evaluation of students receiving the training. Measuring the success of individuals in a training program can help to access the impact that a formalized training program has on the organization as a whole.
Focus: All training programs must be tailored to the specific audience, allowing the customer’s personnel to continue internal training as needed.
Documentation: The materials used during training must be thorough, user friendly and readily available, even after the training session has been completed.
Competence: Effective instructors are vital to the competence of the staff they train. An effective instructor is familiar with the materials and able to adapt to cultural and generational learning styles to train their staff in the most efficient way possible.
To date, more than 400 packaging professionals have received certification through PMMI. For information on the program, visit www.pmmi.org/certified
