PAT Technology System Uses Xaar 1001 Printheads, Wins Best of Show at On Demand

Boston, Mass.—Xaar joined in the celebrations as PAT Technology Systems’ innovative VarstarT sheet-fed digital UV Coater finishing system won a ‘Best of Show’ Award at the On Demand Conference and Expo last week. The On Demand Awards recognize companies that are at the forefront of innovation and leadership in the digital imaging and document solutions industry.

Launched in October last year, Varstar was the first system to implement Xaar’s 1001 printhead, the first offering from their hybrid side-shooter (HSS) inkjet platform. The result is the world’s first commercial digital varnishing coater producing “on-the-fly” flood and spot coating, textures and special effects in a single pass from just a digital graphics file.

PAT Technology’s Varstar produces effects that were previously impossible or not cost effective using traditional processes. The VarstarTM leverages Xaar 1001 HSS jetting technology to achieve unsurpassed reliability and flexibility whilst delivering benchmark jetting accuracy to enable this new and exciting application.
