The Recycled Paperboard Technical Association (RPTA) and the 100% Recycled Paperboard Alliance (RPA-100%) jointly announced that the two organizations have entered into an official affiliation agreement. In addition, the governing boards of both organizations approved Paul Schutes as executive director of the RPTA, effective Feb. 1. He also will continue as the executive director of the RPA-100%.
Dave Briere, senior vice president of WestRock Recycled Paperboard Mills made the announcement. Briere, who serves as president of the RPTA Board of Trustees and chairman of the RPA-100% Board of Directors noted that the organizations have worked together for many years. The missions of the organizations differ but the goals for both are the same: to promote and perfect the manufacture and use of 100 percent recycled paperboard in all of the markets they serve.
“Over the past 10 years, Paul has done an excellent job of continuously improving the services provided by the RPA-100% while increasing the value member companies receive," Briere said. "The RPTA Trustees are confident Paul will bring this same focus on increasing member value to the RPTA.”
Schutes added, “The recycled paperboard industry has changed significantly over the last 20 years. This affiliation is an important step in the process to ensure the organizations continue to meet the needs of today’s recycled paperboard industry. I am very excited about the opportunity to lead this new alliance on behalf of our members.”
