Overnight Labels Named 2007 FTA Environment Award Winner
DEERPARK, N.Y.—Overnight Labels, Inc. announced that it has been named the winner of the FTA’s (Flexographic Technical Association) 7th Annual Environmental Excellence Award. The competition was open to any company active in the flexographic printing industry and was judged in two categories: process improvement and technical innovation.
The award was based on Overnight Labels, Inc.’s implementation of a quality management system and reduction of overall production waste. In one years’ time, Overnight Labels, Inc.’s QMS proved to be both environmentally and financially beneficial. The environmental repercussions of the quality management system has produced 93,4921 feet less waste (or about 2,544,493 feet more non-waste, such as good product) in 2006 than in 2005.
Don Earl, president of Overnight Labels, Inc. said, “It’s not always easy to make production changes in this industry. We were motivated to run a more efficient, environmentally friendly facility. You can accept the old adage that if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, but just because something isn’t a disaster doesn’t mean that it can’t benefit from even the smallest of changes.”
In order to meet its commitment to solid waste reduction, Overnight Labels has set a goal of an additional 2.75 percent waste reduction for 2007.
