Norwood Printing Invests in Third Edelmann Web Press for Pharmaceutical Products

NORWOOD, N.J.—Norwood Printing, Inc. has recently completed the installation of its third Edelmann web press, which was supplied by Edelmann’s distributor, Matik North America (West Hartford, Conn.). Norwood Printing, the Package Insert & Outsert branch of Control Group, is a specialist in printed packaging for pharmaceutical, health care, cosmetics and consumer goods.

The press, a Color Print V76, was purchased to provide additional production capacity as well as replace a full-size sheet fed machine. The Color Print will be running lightweight pharmaceutical grade paper to produce inserts and outserts.

The Color Print V76 is specified with lap splicer, multiple offset print towers, a high speed sheeter/stacker and UV drying. The press has a web width of 30˝ and print repeats are available in the range of 20˝ – 48˝, which gives the press the capability to run full size sheets (28˝ x 40˝) on ultra thin substrates. Maximum running speed is 1400 feet/min.

Several Color Print V-Series presses have been sold into environments where high speed and very quick make readies are the primary requirements. The machine may be utilized for a number of paper based products such as commercial (with signature folder), DM, CD inlays, sticky-notes, lottery coupons, security and folding carton up to 26 mill thick. Edelmann has just received its second order from an existing customer, a Newspaper printer, for a 12-color press with twin newspaper folders.

An alternative range is also available to print on label and filmic materials.

Edelmann Graphics, based in Beerfelden, Germany, has been manufacturing presses for over 30 years and has an installed base of over 3500 machines worldwide.
