Nilpeter Succeeds at LabelExpo Europe - dupe?
SLAGELSE, Denmark—Nilpeter debuted HoloPrint at LabelExpo Europe, in Brussels. The system offers a different approach to producing holograms and can be integrated in-line with any Nilpeter platform press. The cassette-based HoloPrint module prints a 50,000 dpi holographic image in register and in a UV-cured varnish directly onto any web-fed paper or film substrate. The result is a strong and affordable security device that overcomes the usual storage and security issues surrounding conventional embossed foil holograms. HoloPrint images can help secure a multitude of consumer products, cards, tickets, and garments against counterfeiting or so-called 'grey imports'. HoloPrint offers print widths of 340 mm (13½ inches) and 420 mm (16½ inches).
The HoloPrint module was shown as part of a six-color Nilpeter FA-Line UV-flexo press. It also included the CASLON Inkjet module. Introduced in 2007, it adds the flexibility of single-pass CMYK Inkjet printing using UV-curable inks. Xaar’s 1001 drop-on-demand print heads allow eight greyscale levels. The FFEI front-end permits variable data printing on the fly, or for printing single copies of full-colour labels to a maximum resolution of 720 x 360 dpi. The top speed is 25.3 m/minute (82 feet/minute) at a 360 x 360 dpi resolution. CASLON modules can run with one or more UV-flexo units for printing UV-cured varnishes, solid colours, and/or white opaque inks for filmic labels. They can also run in a stand-alone mode with unwind and rewind units.
“Despite the global economic conditions we had a successful show that exceeded our expectations,” said Jakob Landberg, sales director. “Our patented HoloPrint system, which operates like an entirely new printing process, especially attracted great interest printing in-line with FA-Line and CASLON. The MO-4 offset press was also very popular. A new sleeve system cost-effectively offers printers a wide choice of repeat lengths. As high-performance presses for premium products, the fourth generation of MO-presses are strategically very important to us.”
