The Nike SB Dunk is one of the most sought-after sneakers. Nike regularly drops special editions of the Dunk, and shops often hold raffles just for the chance to buy them at full price. That's to say nothing of the resale game.
The newest Nike Dunk design is a celebration of sneaker exclusivity history, commemorating a one-of-one release that used the eBay color scheme and branding. That original shoe, which was sold in 2003, sold for more than $30,000. As the story goes, the rest of the shoes were cut up so they couldn't be sold.
Now, Nike is bringing back a version of those Nike SB Dunks for auction, and celebrating the original shoe's mythology by making the new one look like it's been sawed into pieces and reassembled.
Remember, the “SB” in Nike SB stands for Sandy Bodecker. Here’s his hidden history with the legendary Ebay Dunk and what the shoe means to the people who made it happen: https://t.co/rWLBydZvPN pic.twitter.com/o3hozf6ebS

Also, each pair of shoes comes with a commemorative saw.
But, the best part of all of this is the packaging. Remember, skate shoes are meant for skateboarding, and Nike is bringing that spirit to the oversized shoe box itself. It's fully skateable, with a pull-out ledge for two levels of grinding, as demonstrated by skate legends Eric Koston, Elissa Steamer and Paul Rodriguez in an ad.
Almost twenty years ago, the rarest sneaker of all time went up for auction on eBay. Today, we’re running it back 🪚

Proceeds from the auctioned up sneakers (which will take place on eBay of course), will benefit the Bodecker Foundation, which was set up in the memory of Nike SB division founder Sandy Bodecker, who passed away from cancer. Bodecker was also the original owner of the eBay dunks.
This whole thing is much more than just a branding opportunity for eBay and Nike. It takes the spirit of skateboarding and expands what you can do with packaging by creating a fully functional skate obstacle out of packaging. It also creates an opportunity to benefit a worthy nonprofit that certainly lives in the heart of Nike SB fans.
