Mouvent Digital Printing Technology Makes its North American Debut at Labelexpo
Mouvent – the Swiss start-up company focused exclusively on delivering the future of digital printing – provided one of the main talking points at this year’s Labelexpo Americas exhibition, with its first presentation of its revolutionary digital technology on American soil. Attendees were very impressed with the Mouvent Cluster, Mouvent’s radical new approach, which uses extremely compact and lightweight clusters instead of fixed size print bars by color, arranging them in a modular, scalable matrix. The result is one system that can be simply adapted for almost any substrates, widths, and markets.
“The level of interest around Mouvent was enormous and we are delighted with the positive feedback we received,” said Dean Haertel, Sales, Service & Manager for label machines for Mouvent in North America. “This event was a huge milestone for us – an opportunity to show our innovative technology to an American audience in the run-up to our inaugural launch in the country – and it couldn’t have gone better. People are excited about the technology, understand the benefits it will bring them, and are very eager to see the label printers first-hand in the months ahead.”
Print samples from the available Mouvent digital label printers – which are all based around the Mouvent Cluster – were available at the booth and highlighted the quality of the output to attendees. The label printers, already launched in Europe and is coming to America in 2019, are the LB701-UV mini label press, which is the smallest high-productivity label press on the market; the LB702-UV label press, which allows fast and easy industrial label production at an incredible TCO; and the game-changing LB702-WB label press, which uses only 100% water-based Mouvent inks, making it 100% free of VOCs (volatile organic compounds) and 100% food safe.
The three label printers can all print up to 7 colors on a large variety on substrates – paper, self-adhesive and wet-glue labelstock and flexible materials – at production speeds of up to 100 m/min with a native resolution of 1200x1200 and optical 2000 dpi.
“Our technology provides very high-quality digital label printing, which is more accessible, more flexible, cheaper and simpler than current options on the market,” said Martin van Waeyenberge, Marketing & Sales Manager for label machines at Mouvent. “We believe that all of our current digital label printers have huge potential in America and the reaction we saw at Labelexpo Americas has confirmed that.”
As member of the Bobst Group, Mouvent also held a well-attended joint press conference together with BOBST during the first day of the show.
“Journalists were extremely interested to see what the new kid on the block in digital printing had to offer and were intrigued by the technology and the degree of innovation that went into it,” explained Reto Simmen, Chief Business Officer at Mouvent. “Digital printing is an area that’s ready for radical new approaches, and that’s exactly what we bring. We are currently finalizing our tailored sales and service structure for the US market and then look forward to launching the first of our digital label printers in the US in the months ahead.”
