Prinect User Days 2012 Focused on Exploiting Opportunities, Mastering Structural Changes
HEIDELBERG, GERMANY—October 31, 2012—The international Prinect User Days 2012 focused on ways of mastering the structural change in the print media industry. By attending numerous workshops, sharing ideas, and taking part in user discussions, more than 300 participants from all over Europe had the opportunity to explore the issue in depth from a whole host of different perspectives, such as further market consolidation in industrialized countries. As in previous years, the two-day event took place at the Print Media Academy in Heidelberg, Germany. It was devised and hosted by a small team of representatives from various Prinect users under the motto "by users for users."
Sharing ideas and knowledge
The workshops and discussions addressed issues such as Web-to-print with its various business models (HEI Integration), automation of management and production processes with the new Prinect Business Manager (HEI Productivity), and cost-optimized, flexible production with digital and offset printing (HEI Flexibility). Participants also took the opportunity to see the live demonstration of Prinect at the redesigned Print Media Center of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG, which illustrated the innovative integration of MIS, Web-to-print, and production. Organizational and technical challenges relating to the introduction of workflow solutions were also on the agenda, as were the very latest trends, in particular the further integration of smart automation.
For instance, participants took part in an animated discussion about the various possibilities of process integration, the advantages of an integrated print shop, and how this integration works in practice. They also discussed how to achieve optimum efficiency in color management, for example with the new Prinect Color Toolbox. "The Prinect User Days have long since established themselves as an idea-sharing platform for Prinect users. The event is not restricted to issues relating to the Prinect print shop workflow but also takes a closer look at the challenges facing our industry as a whole. And that's what participants particularly appreciate," said Thomas Kröncke, head of the Prinect division at Heidelberger Druckmaschinen Vertrieb Deutschland GmbH.
