MGI Digital Technology has produced 20,000 “tip-on” cover cards for the GRAPH EXPO 15 show directory with its unique, integrated JETvarnish 3D Spot UV Coater & iFOILHot Foiling Solution. The iFOIL was recently honored by the Printing Industries of America (PIA) with a 2015 InterTech Technology Award to match the one earned by the JETvarnish 3D in 2013.
The project was done in partnership with The Printing Impressions Group, which publishes the annual show directory for GRAPH EXPO, and MGI business partners Mohawk Fine Papers, KDX America (lamination film) and API Foils. The cards were cut by premier finisher, The Printer’s Edge.
Four separate cover card designs were created with decorative 3D textures and embossed foil highlights. Each card was printed with a personalized name on the MGI Meteor DP8700 Xl+ with variable data (VDP) and enhanced on the JETvarnish 3D & iFOIL with Variable Data Finishing (VDF) techniques.
“MGI is proud to continue our tradition of working with GRAPH EXPO, Printing Impressions and our business partners to produce a directory worthy of the most important printing trade show in the United States.” said Kevin Abergel, MGI USA’s vice president of sales and marketing.
“This project demonstrates our VDP production press and VDF production finishing capabilities to industry professionals looking to expand their businesses with profitable services that attract new customers," Abergel added. "Our 3D spot UV and embossed foiling effects can dramatically add value, impact and excitement to good designs and printed output.”
