MEGTEC MILLENNIU® Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer Helps Printer Reduce Operating Costs More Than 65 Percent
De Pere, Wis.—January 19, 2007—MEGTEC Systems announces that Evergreen Printing & Publishing will install one of its MILLENNIUM® regenerative thermal oxidizers at Evergreenıs printing plant in Bellmawr, N.J.
Evergreen is a commercial web printer that produces a diverse mix of coldset and heatset daily and weekly newspapers, inserts and trade publications.
The new MILLENNIUM® regenerative thermal oxidizer will replace environmental control equipment that is about 20 years old. The unit is paired with two
ROTOMAN web presses from MAN Roland.
“Our old oxidizer equipment still delivers environmental compliance, but it cost so much more to operate,” said Jack Ricciuti, executive vice president and chief operating officer for Evergreen. ∫It just made all the sense in the world to move up in technology versus investing $60,000 in something that is going to cost so much more to operate in the long run.”
Ricciuti said he expects the new MILLENNIUM® RTO will cost about $25,400 annually to operate. This is about a 69 percent reduction compared to the
old equipment.
“Since we elected to purchase the equipment instead of leasing it, we anticipate a very short-term payback period completely paid for by energy savings,” he said. “Everyone at MEGTEC who was involved with the project put their heads together to come up with a solution that included ideas we hadnıt even considered. Their experience truly has made this a turnkey installation.”
Evergreenıs MILLENNIUM® RTO unit is rated at 8,000 scfm, delivers thermal efficiencies of 95 percent and can achieve 99 percent destruction efficiency of volatile organic compounds. The unit utilizes an inexpensive ceramic heat exchange media that is virtually indestructible, and delivers exceptionally low resistance to minimize pressure drop, which ensures smooth operations and reduced electrical costs.
The MILLENNIUM® also features a compact, cost-efficient design in a space-saving unit with considerable installation flexibility for indoor, outdoor and rooftop applications.
