DALLAS—February 2, 2015—McLean Packaging is partnering with KBA North America to leverage the technology of a specially-configured KBA Rapida 106 41-inch hybrid eight-color press. The investment will increase McLean’s product options and enhance its efficiency for premium packaging and display needs. The press will be installed at McLean’s folding carton site in Moorestown, NJ.
“Our success is built upon continually exceeding the expectations of our customers, both for premium packaging and carton production,” says Joe Fenkel, chairman and CEO of McLean Packaging. “We differentiate ourselves from competitors by taking projects that are challenging and delivering a superb product. Our new KBA Rapida 106 hybrid press is a key investment for our current customers as well as our future growth. Our vision is to leverage the unique technology on this specially-configured press to create shelf appeal on our packaging products that outperforms any competitor.”
The new hybrid KBA can run both conventional and UV ink and is configured with seven litho units, a coater, two drying stubs, an eighth litho unit, and second coater. McLean’s management put special emphasis on sheet inspection and inline color density measurement by adding the KBA QualiTronic ColorControl system. This system lets press operators scan in the approved drawdown, set tolerances, and the press automatically adjusts color as it runs. Other features include Sensoric Infeed, an electronically-controlled feeding that allows for color consistency and less makeready waste; a touch-screen console allowing operators to view all sheets and reports during and after production; and fully-automated plate loading and plate clamping.
