Converters who apply self-wound laminate film in their processes now have a new tool for greater productivity and reduced waste.
At Labelexpo Americas, Martin Automatic will introduce the MLSW splicer for non-stop roll change of self-wound overlaminate films. The compact design of the MLSW allows for installation above a new or existing narrow web press. Splices are prepared in the aisle at a safe ergonomic height, without having to reach over a running press. Splice preparation is ultra-simple, requiring no additional tape or adhesive.
The MLSW for self-wound is the latest in the MLS line of splicers, which includes models for in-line (adhesive application) film lamination and for foil stamping.
Visitors to the Martin Automatic stand will also see running demonstrations of the latest MBS automatic butt splicer and LRD automatic transfer rewinder. Versatile with a range of substrates, the standard MBS will run materials from pressure sensitive label stock to flexible packaging. The LRD non-stop rewinder changes and then unloads rolls automatically, without any need for handling carts or other equipment. The MBS-F splicer (F for film) and LRD rewinder on working display in Chicago are sold to one of the world’s leading label converters for installation following the show.
