Tag and Label Manufacturers Institute (TLMI) has announced that Mark Tibbetts has been selected as the association’s new president, effective Jan. 1, 2016. Tibbetts will become the association’s fourth president in TLMI’s 82 year history.*
Tibbetts joins TLMI from the Thermostat Recycling Corp. (TRC) where he was the executive director for six years. During his tenure, Tibbetts led a major restructuring of the association, successfully transforming the TRC into a nationally recognized brand within the HVAC industry.
Prior to joining TRC, Tibbetts was the manager of business development with the American Public Works Association. He brings extensive experience in both non-profit and government program management to his new role with TLMI.
“I feel privileged and honored to follow the footsteps of Frank Sablone and lead this exceptional organization," Tibbetts said. "I look forward to the opportunity to work with its members and guide TLMI to achieve even greater relevance, member value, and industry service.”
The announcement follows a three month-long search process overseen by the TLMI Board of Directors and carried out by Washington, DC-based executive search firm Vetted Solutions, in addition to a specially formed search committee comprised of association member converters, suppliers and affiliate advisers.
“We had an outstanding group of candidates Vetted Solutions presented us with during the search process," TLMI Chairman Dan Muenzer said. "However, Mark’s strong background in association management coupled with his extreme professionalism and impressive business acumen made him stand out as an exceptional match for TLMI. Thanks to the dedication of current President Frank Sablone, TLMI is stronger than it has ever been and I am confident that Mark will be able to help the association reach new heights in an industry that is constantly changing, and in a marketplace that becomes more globalized every day.”
Sablone will be stepping down from his day-to-day duties as of January 1. He will remain in an advisory role until the end of 2016.
“I would like to personally welcome Mark to the TLMI family," Sablone said. "Much has been accomplished over the last 17 years and the association’s success is a direct result of the hard work of its volunteer members who serve on the board, the meeting program chairs, the membership at large and most of all the volunteers who serve on and chair TLMI committees. I am confident that the association’s success will continue with Mark at the helm and I know our members will offer him the same unwavering support they have given me all these years.”
*Prior to current President Frank Sablone, the position carried the title of association executive director. Until the early 1990s, TLMI was managed by an outside association management firm.
