Mactac Adds Nine Tamper-Evident Security Labelstocks to its Security Portfolio
Mactac has expanded its portfolio of security solutions by launching nine new tamper-evident labelstocks designed to help brands improve product authenticity while protecting against product tampering, retail theft, and fraud.
The innovative labelstocks, which draw upon the success of Mactac’s LTCNVP50 non-PVC, destructible labelstock, feature security measures designed to help brands and consumers know if a product label or closure has been removed.
“Tamper-evident product labeling is an easy and relatively cost-effective way for brand owners to protect against product tampering, alteration, and counterfeiting, which can negatively impact their bottom line and reputation,” said Kim Hensley, marketing manager, Mactac Performance Adhesives. “By broadening our security portfolio to offer a total of 10 different types of destructible and void labelstocks, we’re able to offer tamper-evident labeling solutions for a wide range of industries and applications.”
Destructible labelstocks, which were initially developed by Mactac’s parent company, LINTEC Corporation, feature high tensile strength and low internal strength. These attributes make it easy to convert on press, but difficult to remove after application. Once applied, any attempt to remove the label will cause it to fracture, preventing re-application.
New solutions that feature destructible facestock technology include:
- LTC03150, a 2.0-mil white gloss destructible PVC facestock with an aggressive permanent acrylic adhesive and a 50-lb. white glassine liner.
- LTC03600, a 2.0-mil clear gloss destructible PVC facestock with an aggressive permanent acrylic adhesive and a 50-lb. white glassine liner.
- LTC03503, a 2.0-mil silver sparkle gloss destructible PVC facestock with an aggressive permanent acrylic adhesive and a 50-lb. white glassine liner.
The expansion of Mactac’s line of tamper-evident labelstocks also includes labels that provide a clear indication when tampering or removal has been attempted. These solutions include those that leave behind a “void” pattern, which can’t be resealed or reused; those that reveal a concealed “void” image without leaving behind adhesive residue; and invisible ultraviolet fluorescent voids, which allow for authentication under black light.
New solutions that feature void technology include:
- LTC01912, a 2.0 mil white gloss VOID polyester facestock with an aggressive permanent acrylic adhesive and a 50-lb. white glassine liner.
- LTC01571, a 1.5 mil clear gloss VOID polyester facestock with an aggressive permanent acrylic adhesive and a 60-lb. blue glassine liner.
- LTC02573, a 2.0 mil silver matte VOID polyester facestock with an aggressive permanent acrylic adhesive and a 50-lb. white glassine liner.
- LTC01573, a 1.5 mil red glass VOID polyester facestock with a specialty non-transferrable VOID adhesive and a 60-lb. blue glassine liner.
- LTC01574, a 1.5 mil blue gloss VOID polyester facestock with a specialty non-transferrable VOID adhesive and a 60-lb. blue glassine liner.
- LTC01904, a 2.0 mil white matte fluorescent VOID polyester facestock with a high-performance, fluorescent, permanent acrylic adhesive, and a 60-lb. blue glassine liner.
Tamper-evident labelstocks are ideal for use in applications such as food packaging, health and beauty products, consumer electronics packaging, asset labels, security seals, product warranty labels, product warning labels, automotive VIN labels, and pharmaceutical box seal labels.
