Lithotype Implements New MIS
CHICAGO—Radius Solutions Ltd. (www.radiussolutions.com), an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software provider focused exclusively on the packaging and printing industry, announced that The Lithotype Company, a flexible packaging and offset printing provider, has implemented PECAS Vision MIS software across the organization’s facilities to gain efficiencies, improve access to information, and increase profitability.
As an expanding organization that added a location in Bolingbrook, Illinois, Lithotype had outgrown its existing MIS capabilities—having leveraged a smaller industry-specific solution, along with an in-house software application. Since the two systems were not integrated, the need to enter data into both applications was inefficient and made it difficult to expand operations without overtaxing the resources of key production personnel.
The company was looking for a fully integrated system that would support multiple facilities, while offering business processes that specifically fit flexible packaging and printing operations. A system that would provide the ability to improve operational efficiencies, provide better visibility into business performance, and provide agility for change were also important factors in selecting a new business management solution.
Lithotype evaluated a total of five vendors over the course of a year before short-listing two final candidates. The company selected Radius Solutions as its applications partner. “We wanted a supplier that was a company of good size; that had been around for a while; and that offered us solid industry knowledge, strong support personnel, and a clearly defined implementation strategy”, says Carl Haynes, vice president of operations for Lithotype.
By implementing Radius Solution’s PECAS Vision software, Lithotype eliminated the other systems, saving maintenance fees and ongoing in-house development. The organization has also been able to improve inventory visibility for its clients, double the speed at which it enters jobs, and provide more consistent pricing to clients—improvements that flow directly into production pricing. The ability to move jobs around between facilities to maximize resources, save costs, and improve flexibility has also been a significant benefit for Lithotype.
Lithotype is now looking forward to more extensive use of PECAS Vision’s Business Intelligence capabilities. The ability to identify and pursue new business that is the best fit for the company will enable it to grow in ways that will provide maximum benefit from the software.
