This year’s event will focus on discussing potential remedies that can be employed to combat global intellectual property theft. PABS08 is designed for all concerned with protecting businesses and consumers against product counterfeiting and piracy, from brand owners and legislative authorities, to packaging converters, solution providers, and related associations.
Here are some highlights of PABS08:
• The program will include six sessions on the role of associations against IP theft, the actions taken at a governmental level, panel discussions on different industry sectors, protecting products and brands, a supplier forum, and a special AIM Global session on identification technologies.
• The Keynote presentation will be given by C. Graham Gerst, senior counsel to the deputy attorney general, vice chair of the U.S. Department of Justice Intellectual Property Task Force who will present the Justice Department’s Efforts to Protect Intellectual Property Rights.
• There will be four panel discussions focusing on Safeguarding the Healthcare Supply Chain, Protecting Consumer Products, Securing the Food & Beverage Supply, and preserving the integrity of the Retail Supply Chain.
• Participating organizations will include Eli Lilly and Company, Global Intellectual Property Center, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, International Anti Counterfeiting Coalition, Johnson & Johnson LifeScan, Kurz Transfer Products, Luxottica Retail, Motorola Inc., NASPO—North American Security Products Organization, National Intellectual Property Rights Coordination Center, Videojet Technologies, Underwriters Laboratories, and UPM Raflatac.
• Complementing the formal program will be opportunities to network during the tabletop exhibition and social program.
