Komori Enters Digital Inkjet Marketplace With Impremia Line

ROLLING MEADOWS, IL—June 12, 2012—Komori America launched the Impremia presses at drupa 2012, marking Komori’s entry into a new market space and underscoring Komori’s kando philosophy of exceeding customer expectations. The Impremia line consists of two inkjet offerings, the IS29 sheetfed model and the IW web-fed machine.

“Komori has been working on this new product line for the past several years, and we are very pleased that we are able to bring these cutting edge new technologies to market,” said Jacki Hudmon, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Komori America. Hudmon further noted that Komori recognized the need to provide its customers with an entire selection of printing output devices to meet their diverse customer demands, whether it is web, sheetfed or digital technology. “We listened to our customers, and are bringing what we believe is the best solution for the changing printing landscape.”

The Impremia line consists of two inkjet offerings. The Impremia IS29 is a 29" press that can operate in perfecting or straight mode. Equipped with UV technology, the IS29 does not require pre-coated paper and can print on substrates from 60-lb paper to 18-pt. board. With a resolution of 1,200 dpi, the IS29 runs at a speed of 3,300 sheets per hour in straight mode. The Impremia IW20 is a 20" web-fed press that can run up to 150 meters per minute and up to 1,200 dpi, with water-based inkjet inks. The IW20 will be available as roll-to-roll, roll-to-sheet, roll-to-saddle stitching or roll-to-perfecting binding, making it the ideal high quality, high-productivity solution for books, magazines and flexible packaging.
