New Kodak Business Team: Inkjet Technology Partnerships
ROCHESTER, N.Y.—Kodak announced the formation of a new business team named Inkjet Technology Partnerships (ITP). Through this team, companies wanting to implement customized inkjet solutions for the production and functional print space now have access to Kodak’s Stream Inkjet Technology.
Inkjet Technology Partnerships enables partners to leverage the KODAK Stream Inkjet Technology imaging subsystem and Kodak expertise in inkjet technologies and materials science to respond quickly to market opportunities with proven technology. Partners that will benefit from this new business range from equipment suppliers to large print providers needing tailored solutions. Projects are already underway, with particular emphasis on areas that are complementary to Kodak’s print market focus.
Stream Inkjet Technology, already used in the successful KODAK PROSPER Platform, is ideal for a wide range of imaging applications. Through flexible technology packages, partners can now incorporate the technology to design innovative solutions at a much lower cost with a shorter turnaround, eliminating lengthy development cycles and helping them capture opportunities at their peak.
“This business is part of our expanding portfolio in digital printing, and these new inkjet packages and interfaces make Kodak’s imaging technology easy to drop into almost any solution our partners may be working on,” said Ronen Cohen, General Manager, Inkjet Technology Partnerships, Kodak. “The modularity and scalability of the technology, together with Kodak’s support, mean that new solutions can be implemented quickly to drive revenue from new or evolving applications.”
The technology packages offered by Kodak include the writing head, inks, data controller, implementation expertise, integration, and workflow. Partners bring their own expertise in complete solution subsystems, their brand equity, and valuable insight into the requirements of their markets, which in combination provide a winning solution to the marketplace.
Potential applications range from commercial print and packaging to functional printing with applications such as product decoration. Stream Inkjet Technology fueled a breakthrough in commercial inkjet printing, and now that technology can be used by partners to drive similar breakthroughs in other markets.
“This is a dynamic time in the imaging market, and Kodak is playing a pivotal role in transforming the way everyone thinks about printing. It’s not just putting ink on paper, it is about collaborative relationships with market leaders that enable us to bring new and innovative solutions into a market that is experiencing dramatic change,” added Cohen.
